About MSLA

The Muslim Student Leaders & Alumni (MSLA) is an organization that works with MSAs on a consultancy capacity, focusing on community growth and sustainability. Our vision is to unite MSA communities that are optimally structured, with strong collaboration, and strong networks that ultimately serve to please Allah.

Role Overview

The Programs & Events Executive is responsible for leading MSLA's gatherings, including the MSA Leadership Summit. This role also involves overseeing the planning, logistics, and execution of these and other large-scale MSLA events, ensuring they are impactful, spiritually grounded, accessible, and data-informed.

Note: MSLA has successfully hosted an MSA Leadership Summit before, and comprehensive documentation from previous events is available to support you in this role. You'll be building on proven frameworks and best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define annual summit goals, themes, and learning outcomes aligned to MSLA's mission.
  • Prepare clear cut itineraries, speaker briefs, and facilitator guides.
  • Recruit/train volunteers (program leads, ushers, hospitality, comms).
  • Identify shift schedules and SOPs; run pre-event briefings and post-event debriefs.
  • Secure venues/hosts, manage budgets, timelines, vendors, halal catering, and A/V.
  • Handle registrations and on-site check-in.
  • Develop contingency plans and basic risk management (e.g., weather, tech, speaker changes).
  • Coordinate with MSLA comms on event branding, web pages, email campaigns, and social posts.
  • Produce participant packets, slides, signage, and post-event recap content.
  • Onboard and manage speakers, trainers, and panelists (students, alumni, chaplains, experts).
  • Liaise with local MSAs, Inter-MSA councils, and campus partners for co-hosting and outreach.
  • Prepare event based MOUs or simple agreements as needed.
  • Maintain a living events playbook (checklists, templates, vendor lists, budgets).

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience as an MSA executive or relevant student leadership role for at least 2 years.
  • Demonstrated events/programs coordination experience (summits, conferences, trainings, or retreats).
  • Strong project management, organization, and communication skills.
  • Comfort with tools like Google Workspace, slack, jira.
  • Alignment with MSLA's mission and commitment to community-centered work.

Impact

Your work will:

  • Deliver a high-quality MSA Leadership Summit that equips student leaders with practical skills and spiritual grounding.
  • Improve continuity by documenting playbooks and building repeatable systems.
  • Generate clear, shareable outcomes and stories that strengthen MSLA's network and credibility.

Why Join MSLA?

You'll shape flagship programs that empower Muslim student leaders and strengthen campus communities — creating repeatable models that others can adopt, insha'Allah.
